A new path to connection

Meg’s recovery got a big boost from our creative writing program

Meg wanted to shake things up. Being in addiction recovery meetings can be monotonous, so when Alano Club of Portland offered our writing group, she signed up.

Write Around Portland facilitator Daniel created a safe space for her and others to share. They let themselves be honest and vulnerable. That helped quickly build a strong, enduring bond.

Better yet, the writing group also helped Meg form the habit of writing daily. And while she’d written creatively in the past, now she could write with intention – toward healing.

Even after we left, Meg continued writing with her group! She concluded, “Write Around Portland gave me a new social group to help during this life transition.”
